| PC - Processing and visualization based on Linux-PCs: |
If the events are counted or time-stamped by the FPGA or a time-tagging module, a PC is needed for further data processing and to display the results.
[LOnePC] Local One-Linux-PC setup:
- An already set-up PC including Linux running the needed software (depending on all other options) is needed for local operation, if either the FPGA-board or a time-tagging-module is chosen. It would also host the QKD-stack (see below).
[DTwoPC] Distributed Two-Linux-PCs solution with clock synchronization:
- For QKD with separated stations, two PCs are needed. The time-stamps are analyzed there. Software is included to synchronize the clocks responsible for the time-stamping on both sides in order to correlate the detector events caused by individual pairs.
[No] No Linux-PC is needed:
- If simple counting for detecting entanglement was chosen or a Linux-PC is available to install the software, this alternative might be an option.
