The "MIMO Algorithms for Wireless LAN" project is to improve the performance of WLAN systems through the implementation of MIMO technology and will be accomplished in co-operation with the Christian Doppler Laboratory "Design Methodology of Signal Processing Algorithms" of the Technical University of Vienna. MIMO algorithms are to be developed, which are suitable for the OFDM transmission method (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) from WLANs, so that higher data rates can be achieved. The target of the project is the development of a demonstrator for future WLAN standards (e.g. 802.11n) and the demonstration of the efficiency of MIMO for WLAN. The development steps include the implementation of the Alamouti algorithm, a spatial-temporal block code pattern scheme in Matlab/Simulink. The most important basic condition for the development process is the rapid and efficient implementation of the algorithms on the ARC development platform through the use of rapid prototyping.
