In the area of the reciprocal effects between electromagnetic fields and biological systems the Mobile Communications Safety business unit cooperates with interdisciplinary scientists. The Seibersdorf experts play a recognized role in national and international standardisation committees. The business unit is currently participating in the project "Perform A" in the Fifth Framework Program of the European Union. The possibility of cancer causing effects from high-frequency fields is to be clarified. Further participation: The BASEXPO project, funded nationally by the FFF in the context of the EUREKA initiative is to develop methods for exposure regulation in the surroundings of base stations. A goal of EMF NET in the Sixth Framework Program of the European Union is the evaluation of scientific test results over the effects of electromagnetic fields on people. For the EU project DECOS, where Seibersdorf is leading the consortium, the business unit is examining the electromagnetic compatibility of safety-critical embedded systems.
