Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety & Security
Seibersdorf research has been involved with system dependability for many years, which is encompassed by the classical quality attributes "RAMSS" (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety & Security). Our participation in numerous, mostly international research projects has secured our top international position within the area of dependable systems, above all in embedded real time systems. The most prominent reference project is lead by ARC Seibersdorf research: the “
DECOS“ project is an Integrated Project (IP) from the Sixth Framework Program of the EU with 18 national and international partners.
Ever increasing areas of our daily lives are controlled today by electronic systems, usually microcontroller-based systems. Safety issues are increasingly becoming the focus of attention, not just in classical safety engineering domains such as aviation, the railways and industrial controls, but also in automotive manufacturing and even within the area of small everyday devices. Certification according to international standards is increasingly playing a crucial role, for example EN ISO/IEC 61508 for industrial controls or EN ISO/IEC 50126, 50128 and 50129 for railway systems.
A condition for the approval of an equipment is the safety certificate, which proves conclusively that the device or system fulfils the safety requirements placed against it. With many years of experience as a competent partner, our experts offer you support with the accomplishment of the safety certification for your system and the entire spectrum of methodic instrumentation including HAZOP (Hazard And OPerability analysis), FMEA and FMECA (Failure Modes Effects [and Criticality] Analysis, and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).
