The Wireless Communications workgroup conducts research in the area of "signal processing with highest data rates" and creates real time systems for simulation and measurement applications for mobile communications.

The most flexible systems with the highest computing power and maximum customer benefit result from the combination of our core competence within the areas of high-performance hardware, real time signal processing and mobile communications, in particular MIMO technology (Multiple Input - Multiple Output).

The development of mobile communication systems according to future standards ('4G') requires extremely extensive tests, which are becoming replaced by simulations due to high costs. Apart from flexibility, real time ability is the trump card of the Seibersdorf simulation systems, enabling configurations to be adapted during the simulation process without time-consuming pre-calculations. The support of MIMO technology as well as of geometrical-stochastic channel models rank among the additional advantages. The realisation of these capability characteristics requires comprehensive expert knowledge in the areas of high-performance hardware, real time signal processing and mobile communications, which is shared in cooperation with the Vienna University of Technology and the Vienna Telecommunications Research Centre and flows into numerous partner projects in the economy. Research plays a central role with these projects and provides them with their state of the art character.
