Diabetes mellitus

Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) type 1 have to be active participants in their treatment, which strongly correlates with continuous acquisition of relevant health data. Consequently, we develop and validate (within clinical studies) new telemonitoring systems for patients with DM type 1 as well as systems for patients with DM type 2.

We conducted a clinical pilot study about the feasibility of mobile-phone based system supporting DM type 1 management. Additionally, we recently finished a clinical longitudinal study about telemedical optimized Monitoring of DM type 2 patients. Currently, we are starting a clinical study about therapy management of DM type 2 with easy-to-use data acquisition using a mobile blood glucose meter and NFC technology.
